Duties and accomplishments:
Responsible for managing the technical operations department while the
manager was involved full time on a 4 year software development project.
- Managed 6-person technical department, providing support for data
communication, mini-computer, and PC network systems for internal and
external customers
- Trained staff members to administer new systems, maintaining 99.97% system
uptime.
- Initiated a Help Desk call tracking system utilizing off the shelf dBase
product.
- Created a multi-segment network utilizing Novell 3.11 and Windows NT
servers with Windows and Macintosh clients, interfaced it over a private
network with an international WAN.
- Installed Microsoft Mail system on Windows NT server and a tape backup
system for all networks.
- Prepared for total transition from NetWare to NT server.
- Redesigned the Operations Center, the alarm receiver room, the general
offices, and the cable plant, then supervised its renovation while
maintaining 24x7 services.
